The cost of staging them is around 2 million pounds The lights and equipment is valued at some 10 million pounds The lights are taken down at the end of each season and to have them ready for the new season, means that work starts around Easter time.There are more than 500 separate and distinct displays.There are approximately 8 million extra visitors to see the lights each year, taking the total number of visitors to Blackpool each season to some 16 million
Blackpool became a major seaside resort for tourism in 1870 - During this 19th century seaside revolution Blackpool was frequented by the working classes of Lancashire and Yorkshire. Many of Blackpool's famous attractions were built during that thriving Victorian period - The 3 Piers , Blackpool Tower, The Grand Theatre, A gigantic wheel ride at the Winter Gardens (sadly gone now). The Promenade walks and Parkland areas.

- Doctor Who Exhibition - the biggest Doctor Who exhibition in the UK - contains props and costumes from the long-running BBC TV series, including some from recently aired programmes.
- Sandcastle Water Park (now known as Waterworld) - An indoor swimming pool with slides and waves. Next to the South Pier.
- Odeon Cinema - Situated on a multi-complex site, on Rigby Road, with 10 screens.
- The Syndicate Nightclub, holds just over 5,000 people.
